The spectacular coast of Baja California Sur hosts the annual migration of the magnificent Mobula Munkiana.

There are three species of Mobula rays to encounter in the sea of Cortez; Mobula Japanica, Mobula Thurstoni, and the most famous Mobula Munkiana.

On this exploration, we go out to the open sea early morning seeking for the groups of Mobula, if we are lucky we’ll find a group quickly and we will observe if the conditions are favorable to get in the water with them, if the school is too small or they get dispersed we will continue looking for another group, while we are out in the water we have the opportunity to encounter all types of ocean life, massive pods of dolphins, fin whales, humpback whales, blue whales, sperm whales, whale sharks, sea lions, orcas, sharks. Anything can happen. Out in the ocean where the marine life lives free, nothing is ever guaranteed, so be ready to be surprised.

Mobula rays congregate in the hundreds, sometimes thousands, while they travel along the Sea of Cortez. They can be seen flying out and inside of the water: they jump and flip out from the surface in the sunrise and sunset sometimes reaching up to 2 meters high, offering a magnificent spectacle. While in the water, they glide effortlessly in unison. The spring - summer months are the prime season to witness this extraordinary animals, it’s also their mating period, so we can be lucky enough to observe them in courting behavior.

Orcas are spotted approximately around 20 times per month during May & June, although not consecutively, this offers life-changing experiences just from the boat!

  • Sea Safaris or Sea Explorations are a more eco - friendly alternative to visit some of the most alive marine places. In this explorations you will have the opportunity to experience close encounters and witness the animals in their natural habitat, where they live free. Depending on the place, the species and the season, the sea safari will be planned to bring you the most fantastic experience that will last a life time!

  • Although we are a family hotel we do not take kids under 18 years old on this specific trip. However, you can book a private adven-tour for you and your family by contacting us directly.

  • Nothing is ever guaranteed in the open Sea! However, you must know that the Sea of Cortez is one of the most biodiverse and alive places on the planet!

  • Hat, swimwear, sandals, sunscreen (natural), sunglasses, cameras (if needed), backpack or bag to carry your items in and out of the boat.

  • Payments and Cancellation Policy

    - 1st payment: Non refundable deposit of $1000 USD to save your spot (please notice you will be charged in Mexican Pesos at checkout)

    - 2nd payment: $1000 USD 90 days prior to the trip - refundable for 30 days after payment

    - 3rd payment: Remainder of the payment 40 days prior to the trip - at this point payments are non refundable
